    Park Point - Duluth, Minnesota

Finding the right camera angle can turn an ordinary photo into something spectacular. In the case of this driftwood log I came across along the shore of Park Point just outside of Duluth, I tried many different angles before I concluded this was the composition I was looking for. The lone log leads your eye to the horizon without breaking it, leaving room for the lake. God worked his wonders with the clouds on this warm summer morning on Lake Superior.

  • Spring Grass - Central Minnesota

    Spring Grass - Central Minnesota

In a busy scene like a meadow of new spring grass, using a shallow depth-of-field can be helpful in isolating your subject and adding a dream like feeling to your photo. Study the photo and then close your eyes and see if you can put yourself into the meadow. Can you smell the fresh grass and and feel the warmth of the sun on your face. God has created each season so unique and wonderful, soon the snow of winter will be gone and the fresh new beginning of life in the wilderness will start with spring.

Lake Superior - Minnesota's North Shore

I love making photographs in the rain. The water and low contrast add a richness to everything from summer grass and fall foliage and to these rocks along the shore of Lake Superior in northern Minnesota. God has created this world we live in with changing weather every day, take advantage of it all and get out and see how different the world looks in every environment God provides us.

    Crazy Mountains - Montana

This photo of the 11,000 foot peaks of the Crazy Mountains northeast of Livingston Montana remind me how large our world is and that God is in control of his creation. From the wispy clouds high in the sky to the depth of the snow on the peaks below, God has his hand in every part of the world he created for us to enjoy.

Don’t let foggy weather discourage you from getting outside and taking photos. Sometimes, when the weather is bright and sunny photos can look flat, because objects in the foreground have the same amount of detail as those in the background. The soft layers created by fog can really accentuate or create the illusion of depth in your images, giving them a more three dimensional feel.
